Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about joining and playing

I've never played pickleball before. Will I be able to keep up?

Absolutely! Most of our members started as complete beginners. We'll pair you with experienced players who will help you learn. You'll be surprised how quickly you pick it up - most people are rallying within their first session.

Do I need to bring my own paddle?

No. We have paddles you can borrow while you're learning. Once you've played a few times and know you enjoy it, you might want to buy your own. We can recommend good options at all price points.

What if I can't make it to many sessions?

Membership covers unlimited sessions, so you can come as often or as little as you like. Even if you can only make it occasionally, it's still great value and you'll be part of the community.

I'm not very fit. Can I still play?

Yes! Pickleball is adaptable to different fitness levels. The small court means less running than tennis, and you can play at your own pace. Many members have joined specifically because it's easier on the joints than other racquet sports.

Can I bring a friend to try it?

Yes! Friends are welcome to come for a £5 taster session. If they come more than once, they'll need to either purchase visitor passes (£5 per session, up to 3 visits) or become a member.

What happens if I need to cancel my membership?

Membership is annual and non-refundable, but we'll always try to accommodate special circumstances. Speak to the treasurer if you have concerns - we're here to help.

Are children allowed?

Yes! Children are welcome. If there is enough interest, we would like to create a junior section. Contact us for more information about how young players can get involved.

What's the skill level like at sessions?

Very mixed! We have complete beginners through to experienced competitive players. Sessions are organised so everyone plays at an appropriate level and has fun.

Do you play in winter?

Yes! As long as the courts are safe, we play year-round. Outdoor sessions may be cancelled due to ice, heavy rain, or unsafe conditions. We also play indoors on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings during winter months. Check the Schedule for details.
